FOLIO: BEAUTIFUL OPEN PRAIRIE
Almost everything in the American Midwest is larger than its coastal equivalent, and still the Midwest recedes—cities into the heartland, populations into the suburbs, cultural achievements into the background. Still there are poets, writers, and artists, tiny in the landscape. Some come to the Midwest for work, many for school. Some stay; many pass through. The purpose of this folio is to document in poetry our strange and simultaneous lives in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Minnesota.
