ISSUE ELEVEN | FALL 2018

Again, the changing air

amends my aperture.

I am a nuisance

to my doctors;

my eye a zoo

in mating season—

kingdom, phylum,

class, disorder.

In last night’s dream,

a computer virus

distributed a copy

of my poem

to every printer

for miles around

and everyone

hated me for it.

By morning angels

go up and down

the scaffolding

so I put off the pills.

Can you blame me?

It wasn’t me who said

Beauty will save

the world, but my God,

just this once, what if

beauty will save the world?

*Beauty will save the world is a quote from Fyodor Dostoevsky.
